These is one of my playings with cane slices. I covered a small votive candle holder using a copper chrysanthemum cane that I made recently. I like the glittery look that the copper adds. I am planning on covering candle holders with flowers and garden type themes in the future. I mey even play with holiday themed ones as well. I love burning candles personally and think that there is not enough unique candle holders out there.
I finally got busy and finished up some of the pieces that I had baked a while ago. These earrings are made from the spotted lily cane that I made following the lesson in Polymer Clay Cafe. I have also made a number of pins and barrettes out of this cane. I have a couple of larger flowers to turn into necklaces once I figure out how I want to string them. I am leaning to using cording or even a plain chain with just the flower to focus on. I think that beads will make it to busy.
This set is made with a polymer clay focal bead. It has tiger eye ovals, colored freshwater pearls and glass beads. It is also the first piece that I have done with something other then silver. I liked how the copper findings looked with the focal bead when I first made it and decided to use them on this set. The necklace is also my first double stranded piece. I made it so that the strands can be worn separately. It took a lot of figuring out on my part but I really like how it turned out.
This is the bracelet that goes with the set. The earrings are the same in both pictures. I am still thinking that I will keep this set. Every time that I look at it, I like it even more!
