I Have been making beads for a bead swap that I am doing and came up with ideas for new barrettes.
I like the colors in this one and actually have two more that are very similar, but without the center flower.
These barrettes are two of six that I made yesterday. I am very happy with them all.
I used the same Mokume Gane block for all of the barrettes.
I just got done playing with the baked beads and coloring them with alcohol inks.
I started by using make-up sponges. I put a few drops of the ink on the sponge and then dabbed it on the bead. Then a light spray of rubbing alcohol and let that dry before adding more colors. It worked okay. I wear gloves while I work with the alcohol inks so that I don’t dye my hands as well!
I noticed that the gloves also left ink on the beads but with a textured looking pattern. I did the next set of beads by just use the gloves to put the ink on. I would put a drop of alcohol ink in the palm of my hand (while wearing the glove) and then added the bead and rolled. It worked great and was a lot easier then the make-up sponges!
I am not sure that I will use this in the demo because of the mess. I do like how the bead look and it is very easy to create different looks quickly, so I might.
I finally found out that the “jewelry and yarn event” at work is not until the third weekend of September, so I have lots of time to plan and decide what to demo.
I am sure that I will Demo the Glitter Beads. I have totally fallen in love with them and am still creating away with different colors of clay and types of glitter. I even have three blue glitter barrettes drying at this moment.
I am also pretty sure that I will do a simple Mokume Gane technique because I just enjoy all the different ways that they can be used and the looks that you can get. I have rolled beads from flat sheets, beads from sliced stacks, flat beads from sheets and on and on. I find it very easy and really rewarding.
I am baking beads to try an alcohol ink technique on them once they are cooled. I like the Shaving Cream beads that I made and will be playing with different colors soon, so those are both ideas.
I have been playing with creating different shapes of beads inside of just round and oval. I really like to make swirly beads out of cane ends and other scrapes so I always have stuff to play with.
This set is very colorful and I really like how it turned out.
This bracelet reminds of the multi-flavored sherbet that I enjoy on hot days. The pink “plays” to that effect.
I will admit that this one is my favorite! I really like the purples!
I finished two piece of jewelry using the pink glitter beads that I made out of polymer clay the other day.
This bracelet is using the diamond shape glitter beads. I added Swarovski crystal beads in crystal AB and rose. It is hard to get the sparkle with the camera.
This necklace is with freshwater pearls and rose Swarovski crystal beads.
I have designs for another necklace, bracelet and a couple pairs of earrings.
