Here are more of the beads that I made out of the Mokume Gane block done in jewelry.

This necklace is made with yellow, red, green and topaz glass beads, amber chips and polymer clay beads.  I used a copper flower clasp as a side focal.  It is a very different look for me to make.

These bracelet is with the polymer clay and topaz beads.  The topaz brings the orange in the Mokume Gane clay more then the yellow.  I really like the darker look.

This set of jewelry comes from the same Mokume Gane block that I have been working with all last month.

The earrings are made with lentals that have not been pressed into the round shape, so they are actually bi-cones.  The yellow beads came from a friend of mine after I told her how hard of a time I was having finding the right yellow beads!  They are perfect!

These are more of the fall beads that I recently made from the same Mokume Gane block that I have been using.

fall-horizen.jpg  I really like this necklace.  The focal bead is larger then I normally work with but it is stunning in person.  I used a metalic white cord to put it on.  This keeps it very simple.

oak-leave.jpg I have more of these oak leaves to create with.  I will be using them in other necklaces or even a pair of earrings.  I wanted to have one that is just very simple.  I made my first sale of beads with this set (I made 28 beads with no idea of how to use them, I just liked them that much!)

I finally got the yellow beads and everything else I needed to turn some of my fall beads into jewelry.

fall-leaves.jpg This necklace is very different then I have ever made before.  I did all of the wire work as well as the polymer clay beads and leaves.  I like it mote each time I look at it.

earrings1.jpg These earrings go with the necklace.  I used the same yellow glass beads and the colored tubes.

I was asked recently how I finish my polymer clay pieces.

I will say that it all depends on what I am making and the look that I am after.  Most of the time I simply sand the clay with wet/dry sandpaper (the kind that you use for autos) starting with a heavier grit and working to a very fine one until I like how the piece looks.  Then I buff it to a shine.

I will also use a number of finishes if I want the piece really glossy.  For those pieces I will sand a little, just to make sure that they are smooth and then cover them with either Varathane (made by Rustoleum) or Triple Thick (made by Deltacraft).  Many people while use Future floor wax to seal the polymer clay but I am afraid that the hair products that people use could damage the finish.  I know that Varathane and Triple Thick will hold up to the chemicals.

There are many other ways to finish polymer clay.  These are just the ones that I use currently.
