Today I have been playing with alcohol inks. I like what I have done so far. I just need to make stuff with the sheet that I covered. The colors are very vibrant. When combined in certain ways, they create a tie-died look that is way cool. I stared to use the inks without gloves on and then changed my mind. My finger tips where churning colors as well! (The ink does wash off of skin very well). I am using Ranger Alcohol Inks because that is what I have available at the moment. I like the intense colors that they come in.
What I did was condition the clay that I was going to use as the background. I picked pearl. Then I textured it with my fondant roller (is has different sized swirls). The hard part was to pick what colors to use. I dropped a few drops on the clay sheet and then dappled it around with felt. I mixed some of the colors over each other. It is know drying. I hope it is dried soon so that I can cut the shapes I want to use and make some barrettes. I am going to mount the shapes on a background of darker clay. I am thinking that I might use black. I have ideas for other embleshments to try as well. Well, I am off to play!
