Barrettes and jewelry crafts

In one of the lots of clay that I bought off of e-bay there was this wonderful sheet of clay that looked very much like an animal print.

I cut a large piece out of it and turned it into a barrette.  I am very pleased with the look.  I am sure that I can come close to reproducing the “print” or making something close so that I will be accenting other barrettes with it.  I also think that it would make some great looking beads.

Looking closely at the sheet, I am sure that it was made with transparent, gold and black clays.  I am also thinking of trying different colors to create different animal prints.

I got a huge amount of canes off of e-bay.  The person I bought them from was getting rid of the canes that she had bought and never used.  I really like all of them and will be creating more barrettes then these.  I wish that I could acknowledge the makers of each of the canes but I have no idea who made what.  There are some very talented cane makers out there.

I have been having great fun with all of the colorful ends of clay that I have on my work bench.  I am also playing with different shapes as well.  I really like the tear drop shaped beads.  These for beads are done from scrapes of extruded clay from my Makin’ Clay extruder.

This brite pink and purple square is from the scrapes of my “study in color” canes.  I like the little bit of white that is peeking out of the middle of the bead.

Here are two yellow fish that showed up in the craft room.  They have been turned into pins.  I am hoping that they will invite some larger fish that could hang out on barrettes.  I could also use a few for focal beads.  Maybe smaller ones for earrings and charms.  (So many plans and thoughts and fun stuff to do.)

Here are the first two of my “fake” sea glass barrettes.  I like how they look.  The dragonflies are my first attempt at wire wrapping accents.  They where easier then I thought they would be.  I am going to do more.

I also am going to “play” at wire wrapping shells with sea glass  and trying to make snails to go with them.  Maybe I will even get some butterflies made.
