The other day I made transucent colors by mixing translucent clay with small amount of different colored clays. I then used some of the block that I made to cover two different barrettes. The top one is on a black clay blank and the lower one is on yellow clay. They are both very different looking but nice. I will have to play more with this technique.

Hi! I accidentally discovered Fimo Tranlucent polymer colored clay,,,After it is baked, the colors seem to glow. They are very rich and just beautiful. I am wanting to know how fimo made these colors,,,they are different than using tranlucent clay and adding another colored clay to the mix. What ever color they have used the color is translucent. Also does anyone know how to make alcohol inks or dies? Is this the color additive that fimo uses?

Lori,
I am not sure how FIMO makes their translucent colors. For these barrettes, I mixed a little bit of colored clay in to the translucent to make my own colors. I have alcohol inks but have no idea how to make them. I want to try to use the inks as an additive but have not gotten around to doing so yet.
