I realize that it has been a long time since I have done any posting.  I hope to catch you up with the new creations that I have been working on.

First off, JustBarrettes.com is no longer just barrettes.  I still make barrettes and enjoy doing so greatly but I have gotten into doing other pieces of jewelry.  I have added pins, earrings and necklaces to my site.  Please take the time to look at them.

I got into doing necklaces because of all of the wonderful rocks my husband collected for me last December when he was in Nevada.  He and his Dad went out into the desert near Scotty’s Junction and collected 25 pounds of Apache Tears.  After spending at least 6 months figuring out the best way to polish them, I succeeded and had to find ways to show case these unique stones.  The Apache Tears are really volcanic glass, which makes most of them translucent.  Like many stones, no two are alike.

I have been learning new techniques for wire-wrapping and mounting the stone.  I have started to use those techniques to create some really stunning barrettes that will be posted soon.
